Info for a new student

Welcome to the SEAMK Library!Find information on SEAMK-Finna.

Congratulations for receiving a study place at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences and welcome to the SEAMK Library! In your future studies you will need reliable and high-quality professional and scholarly information. Library offers you text books, research publications and other study material both printed and online.

SEAMK Library is situated in Campus House (Kampustalo), 0 floor.  The address is Kalevankatu 35(Opens in a new window). In the cosy Tapio-sali, you can study alone or together, read a magazine or borrow a laptop. For more quiet reading areas(Opens in a new window), you can visit the library.

Get a library card in Tuudo

Tuudo mobile app is available for students and staff at SEAMK. In addition to the most important student services, you’ll find SEAMK library services there, as well.

Download the free Tuudo app and activate your library card on your phone. You won’t need any plastic library card but you can borrow books by using Tuudo’s barcode.

In Tuudo, you can renew your loans and check your requests and fines. Tuudo will remind you of the due dates and notify if you have available requests. You can also check how the SEAMK Library is open and read library news.

You can check out books by using our self-checkout machines. For that, you’ll need the barcode of your library card and a PIN code. You can change your PIN code as you login to SEAMK-Finna’s My account(Opens in a new window).

If you prefer a plastic library card, you can get one at the library.

Using the library and resources

On SEAMK-Finna(Opens in a new window), library’s search service, you’ll find printed and electronic books and journals, as well as theses and e-resources. On SEAMK-Finna you can renew your loans and make requests on both books on loan and on shelf. Requests do not cost anything. Log in(Opens in a new window) with your SEAMK email and password via Haka login, and you will have access to all SEAMK e-resources(Opens in a new window). Haka login uses multi-factor authentication. In SEAMK Library  there is self-service for collecting the reservations. You can pick-up your reservation from the book trollies near the library door. The reservations are placed under your Tuudo digital library card number or other card number depending on which card you have decided to use as your library card.

You can return your loans by using our self-checkin shelf which is situated next to the library door. If the Campus House (Kampustalo) is closed, you can drop your loans to the book drop box by the C0 entrance.

SEAMK students and staff can access the SEAMK Library outside of our staffed opening hours in the evenings and on weekends. The library is accessible Mon–Sun from 9 am to 9 pm. During unstaffed hours, there are no library staff on duty during these hours. The library premises are under video surveillance. You can check out and check in books at the machines and use library facilities and computers available to patrons.

During unstaffed hours, SEAMK students and employees can use their access keys to unlock the library door. For more information on access keys, please visit SEAMK Intra(Opens in a new window). Access is valid during the times when access to Kampustalo (Campus House) is permitted. You must identify yourself with your own access key to sign in. Please remember that the access key is personal. You may never lend it to others. Also, you may not use your key to let other people enter the library.

Check the instructions for using the unstaffed library(Opens in a new window) on the library’s website. Before you start using the unstaffed library, please visit the library during opening hours to make sure you are able to borrow books.

The degree students of the university are allowed to use library’s electronic resources even outside the university network, for instance at home or on mobile devices. Use your SEAMK university email and password to log in.
