Mobile e-resources

 

Would you like to use library's e-resources (e-books, e-journals etc.) on your smart phone, tablet or e-book reader? There are mobile-friendly versions or web apps available for some e-resources library has purchased. Of course, you can use ordinary web pages as well, but these resources below have a specifically optimized site for mobile devices or an app, so it is easier to use them on your mobile device.

E-resources are available through Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences computer network or through remote access. Use your SeAMK username and password to log in. They are the same which you use to log in to university network. After you have logged in, you can use the e-resources as usual.

Check the user rights  (finnish & english)  (permitted and prohibited use). First choose a resource by name. Information in English at the end of each page.

Britannica Mobile

 

Encyclopedia Britannica is one of the oldest and most respected English language encyclopedias, which contains e.g. articles, images, videos, atlas and dictionary. 

There is a site which is specifically optimized for mobile phones. The site will open automatically when entering the page. There is also a web app available for Encyclopedia Britannica.




Ebrary

Ebrary Academic Complete is a collection of scholarly ebooks on several subject areas.

You can only download Ebrary e-books when you are signed in. If you don't have Ebrary user name yet, you must first create an account to yourself: Sign in and Create an account.

 

You can either read Ebrary  e-books online in Ebrary's own reader or download them  to your computer, tablet or smart phone. When you download the ebook, the loan period 14 days. You may download no more than 10 e-books. You can also read e-books offline.

Ebsco


Ebscohost databases contain full text articles and bibliographic references from several subject areas.

Library has purchased following databases from Ebsco:

- Academic Search Elite (multidisciplinary)
- Applied Science & Technology Source (multidisciplinary, applied sciences and engineering in particular)
Business Source Elite (business, entrepreneurship)
Cinahl with Full Text (nursing)
GreenFILE (environment, reference database)
- Library & Information Science Source (Library and information services)
Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts (Library and information services, reference database)
Regional Business News (business)

You can also read Ebsco's articles on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Android phones. There is also a web app available for Ebscohost in iTunes Store, Apps Store and Android Market. To use the app, you need to authenticate yourself as a student or staff. Downloaded articles can also be read offline.

Ebsco eBook Academic Collection


Ebsco's e-book collection contains over 120 000 e-books from several subject areas.

You can either read Ebsco's e-books online or download them to your mobile device. Ebsco's e-books are compatible with apps like Bluefire Reader (iOS and Android) and Aldiko (Android).

If you would like to download e-books onto your device, first you have to sign in to My Ebscohost. If you don't have Ebsco username yet, you must first click Sign in and Create a new account.

Ellibs

We keep purchasing new e-books from Ellibs both in Finnish and in English. Our current collection can be found here. Log in with you library card (=Käyttäjätunnus) and PIN-code (=Salasana).

 

The loan period for Ellibs e-books is either 1 or 7 days. Some course books have 10 minutes loan period. You may choose the loan period yourself. The e-book will be returned automatically as the loan period has ended. You can also return the e-book yourself before the loan period has ended.

Emerald

 

Emerald contains e-journals and articles on business, health and social care, library and information science and hospitality management.

ProQuest mobile


ProQuest databases contain full text articles and bibliographic references from several subject areas, e.g. multidisciplinary ABI/Inform Complete.

There is a site which is specifically optimized for iOS and Android phones. The site will open automatically when entering the page. Click the database link above.

If you use a tablet, there is a special URL for them.



PubMed Mobile

 

PubMed is a bibliographic database which contains information about medicine and health sciences. Some references include access to free full text articles.

There is also a web app available for iPhone and iPad in iTunes Store and App Store: PubMed on Tap (subject to a charge) and PubMed on Tap Lite (free). There is also a web app available for Android phones (PubMed Mobile).

 

 


Sage Premier

 

Sage includes fulltext e-journals and articles from many subject areas. Web pages are optimized for mobile use. The site will open automatically when entering the page. Click the database link above. More information...
