Library card

 

  • When borrowing books you need a  library card, available in any library unit. You can have a library card after verifying your identity. The same card is valid in every library unit. You can also apply for a card in advance.
  • The card is personal and you are responsible for all materials borrowed on your card.
  • When obtaining the card you become responsible for obeying the library's terms of use.

 

 Borrowing

 

  • Library collections and services are available to all.
  •  Loans between library units are free of charge.
  • Loan periods: Course books 2 weeks, other material 4 weeks. Journals are not lent out. Short loans are lent over night or weekend and must be returned by 3pm. Loan periods for e-books vary between 1 and 30 days.



Renewing loans

 

 

  • You can renew your loans unless reservations have been made for them.
  • Renewals are possible on the SeAMK-Finna search service. If you are a student or a staff member at SeAMK, you can log in with your SeAMK username and password (Haka). Other customers will need their library card number and the PIN-code for using the service. You can also renew your loans by phone or by e-mail.
  • It’s possible to renew loans up to 50 times per item. Short loans can be renewed up to 5 times per item. 



Making reservations

 

 

  • You can make reservations for books that are on loan or the books that are on shelves. You can make reservations to any library unit. Reservations can be made on SeAMK-Finna web service. Choose the library unit where you want to pick up the book. You can also make reservations by visiting your library.

     

  • You can make reservations for course books (14 days) if you belong to the one of the following customer groups:
    • Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences student or staff
    • student or staff of the University Consortium of Seinäjoki (Universities of Tampere, Helsinki and Vaasa, Sibelius Academy or Etelä-Pohjanmaa Summer University)
    • Southern Ostrobothnian Hospital District staff
  • All customers can make reservations for other books.
  • When a book you have reserved arrives in the library you will be notified by e-mail or by post. If you choose the e-mail notice there will be no charge for the reservation. If notification is sent by post, there will be a charge of 1 € per notification. The last day for pickup and the name of the library will appear on your notification.



Returning loans

 

 

  • You can return the materials to any library without cost. 



Overdue charges

 

 

  • The library will send out due-date email alerts (=courtesy notice). This does not affect your responsibility to return items or renew them by their due date.
  • Overdue charges will accrue daily after the due date.
  • Course books 0,40 €/day + notice fee 1 €. If you have been notified by e-mail there is no notice fee.
  • Other materials 0,10 €/day + notice fee 1 €. If you have been notified by e-mail there is no notice fee.
  • Short loans 0,10€/loan/hour. Loan period ends on due date at 3pm.
  • If you have been notified by e-mail there is no notice fee.
  • If overdue notices are sent by post you will be charged 1 € / notice.
  • If you fail to pay the overdue charges and notice fees the library will block you from borrowing materials as soon as the total sum overdue reaches or exceeds 10 €. The patron block will be withdrawn when you have settled your outstanding account.
  • You can pay the overdue charges at the library or via web payment.

 

Compensations

 

 

  • You are obliged to compensate for any lost or damaged library material.
